Census records provide the information
needed for you to trace your ancestors as they moved from one place
to another. My carefully looking at the neighbors you can often find
other family members living close together. A census search is one
of the most important things you will do in your family research. Census records for Alaska prior to 1900 no longer exist. Districts Following census are hosted at Alaska USGenWeb Project 1900 Skagway 1910 Skagway 1920 Skagway Information Census information exists for the 1900, 1910, and 1920 census. Unfortunately, earlier census enumerations (1880-1890) did not survive. Ronald Vern Jackson wrote a book in 1976 (currently out of print) that went into depth about the Alaska State census 1870-1907. The information from this book which will prove invaluable to Alaskan researchers can be found online at Ancestry. I have not found any of this information online for free yet.
